CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION
1 The students and staff of International
College, Sherborne School form an international community
which depends on mutual respect and understanding. All
students must be prepared to do their best and to maintain
the standards of mutual respect and hard work on which
the high reputation of the College depends.
2. Applications for admission must be
made by sending:
(a) completed Application Form
(b) the Application Fee of £100
(c) a copy of the most recent School
Report, if available.
Payment should be made in sterling EITHER by cheque or bank draft, payable to "Sherborne School" OR remitted by Bank Transfer to Lloyds TSB PLC, Yeovil, Sort Code: 30-99-98, for the credit of Sherborne School Account Number: 01884627
IBAN No: GB12_LOYD_3099 9801 8846 27. SWIFT No: LOYDGB2L. BIC No: LOYDGB 21208
PLEASE QUOTE THE STUDENT'S NAME AND INVOICE NUMBER ON ALL PAYMENTS
If the application is accepted and a
place is offered, parents must confirm that they wish
to accept the offer; after remitting a registration deposit
of £1,500.00, a place will then be reserved for the
applicant. The deposit will be held until the student
leaves the College, and will then be refunded after deduction
of any extra charges incurred in the final term. The deposit
is not refundable if the place is not taken up by the
student for any reason.
3 Every student whose parents are not
resident in the United Kingdom is required to have a UK
based 'guardian', for example a relative or close family
friend, who will be responsible for them when they are
not in College. If a student's parents do not know a suitable
person to nominate as 'guardian', the College will be
able to supply details of professional guardian agencies.
4. Students are admitted to the College
on the basis that they will attend the College for each
full term. Parents must therefore ensure that students
are in the UK in time to report to the College on the
evening before the first teaching day each term, and remain
in the UK so that they leave the College on the morning
following the last College teaching day.
5. College fees are payable in advance
at the beginning of each term. In common with all good
quality independent schools, the International College
requires that parents must give at least one term's notice
in writing if they wish to withdraw a student from the
College. If such notice is not given, then the following
term's fees become payable.
Any extra charges are invoiced at the end of each term.
These 'incidental expenses' include such costs as sports
equipment, excursions and other personal expenses.
6. Life in a community depends on the
acceptance of a number of 'rules' which are designed to
ensure that the daily life runs smoothly and efficiently.
The number of rules in the College is kept to a minimum
and their observance should not create any personal difficulty
for any well-motivated, hard-working student. Drugs, alcohol
and tobacco are strictly forbidden. Sexual misconduct
or impropriety will lead to expulsion. Membership of the
College is at the discretion of the Principal.
Students are not permitted to keep substantial
amounts of money in their possession in College. Facilities
exist for money to be deposited with the College for a
student's use, and it is the policy of the College to
encourage a sense of responsibility and appreciation of
the value of money among all students.
7. A student's personal possessions
cannot be covered by College Insurance although it is
sometimes possible for parents to make separate insurance
arrangements. Students are therefore advised not to bring
expensive items of electronic or tele-communication equipment,
lap-top computers, etc., nor expensive watches or jewellery.
The College can accept NO responsibility for loss or damage
to such articles.
"By agreeing to the above I (we) also
hereby give my (our) consent to the above information
being processed for College use only, in accordance
with the Data Protection Act 1998"
